Northampton Community College announced Monday it is offering free tuition to those who lost their jobs due to the slumping economy and want to train for a new career.
This offer is available to residents of Monroe and Northampton Counties only. The assistance program waives tuition for up to 12 credits in one semester in selected programs such as biotechnology, business and nursing. It is a one time offer.
College officials tell Eyewitness News the student must get a letter from his or her former employer to confirm he or she was laid off. The waiver does not include the cost of books, supplies or other fees.
