SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

Hundreds of elementary school students participated in a project to paint murals outlining their hopes and goals for the future. It was just one of several projects set up on Courthouse Square in Scranton on Friday to promote healthy life styles and self esteem. And it was all part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

George Bancroft Elementary School Principal Gwen Daminano said "We want the kids to recognize what is OK and what's not OK. And that's its not OK to accept any type of abuse.

Several local agencies set up booths to promote their services to promote family life and parenting skills.

The month long observance in Lackawanna County will conclude with a Moonlight 5K Walk and Run in Scranton's Nay Aug Park on Sunday, April 27th beginning at 6:30pm.
