SCRANTON - People in Lackawanna County turned-out to pay tribute to a soldier who was one of the first women killed in the Vietnam War.
It's all a part of National Wreath-laying Day.
The ceremony at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Scranton recognized 2nd Lieutenant Carol Ann Drazba, RN of Dunmore.
She was an Army nurse who died when her helicopter was shot down in 1966
An organization that raises awareness of POW-MIA troops made sure people remembered Drazba's service and sacrifice.
George Acquino from Friends of the Forgotten said, ÒPennsylvania has been huge in the support of patriotism and the amount of people that have served from Pennsylvania. The amount of veterans we have in this state is just unbelievable and we just need to recognize that."
This is the second year for this event in Lackawanna County.. | |
