Nearly Two Dozen Dead Dogs Discovered

Nearly Two Dozen Dead Dogs Discovered - Monday, February 16, 2009 at 11:58PM EST

COLLEY TWP., SULLIVAN COUNTY- State Police in Sullivan County are dealing with an animal cruelty case. Troopers say they found nearly two dozen dead dogs at a home on Holly Hill Road in Colley Township Friday afternoon.
Five other dogs survived. But they were neglected and many had worms. They are now being treated at the Luzerne County SPCA in Plains Township.

Executive Director Vince Sweeney says the dogs are doing well but they're not up for adoption at this time. “These dogs at this point -- are not ours. They were seized in a raid and in Pennsylvania, dogs are considered personal property," he said.

State police say criminal charges against the owner are possible in Sullivan County.
