Neighborhood Watch rallies after fatal shooting

Neighborhood Watch rallies after fatal shooting - Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 04:02AM EST

Reported by: Monica Madeja
Tuesday June 15 2010

People are frightened and concerned after a man was shot to death inside a Williamsport home.

His murder has the local crime watch looking for answers.

Abdul Miller was gunned down inside a Scott Street home and members of the city's neighborhood watch have had enough.

Maynard Homler can't take it anymore. After two shootings in less than a year- the most recent Monday morning, he says something needs to be done. And that includes getting more people involved in Neighborhood Watch.

The owner of the house where the shooting happened says he had been having problems with the tenants for some time.

"I was fooled plain and simple," says Bill Haggerty.

He says he is a strict landlord, but now he will make the rules tighter.

"Give people a warning, they straighten up or out you go."

Thats exactly the kind of attitude the people who protect Scott Street want to see from property owners.

Tuesday night the neighborhood will host a vigil and prayer walk in an effort to unify the community and to show nearby communities the benefits of organizing a Neighborhood Watch.
