SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- A state police trooper was sent running after narrowly being hit by a speeding car, according to neighbors who say they witnessed the scuffle.
It happened around 9:30 Friday night. Neighbors said police had a home on Washburn Street under surveillance for possible drug activity.
A man reportedly came out of the home and got into a white Chevy Cobalt. We're told the trooper approached the vehicle when the man began speeding away.
After nearly being hit, neighbors say the unnamed trooper fired one shot from his weapon. The man took off, leading police through parts of Scranton's west side.
As of news time, State Police at Dunmore hadn't released any official details regarding the investigation. There's no word on possible injuries.
The drug suspect was taken into custody near Tripp Park around 10:20 p. m.. | |
