A tractor trailer rolled on its side at about 8:30 Tuesday morning on East Northampton street in Laurel Run.
Emergency crews hauled off the driver in an ambulance.
Bob Cybulski lives downhill from the accident and is surprised he hasn't seen one like this before.
"They do come down here and they know that they're not supposed to. You got these winding roads and the kids running over here and stuff like that you know. And it is dangerous for them."
Police say the driver ignored posted signs to keep big rigs like this from coming down this hill called giants despair.
A Laurel Run firefighter says signs aren't making a difference.
Laurel Run Asst. Fire chief John Mosley says, "It's not a lot but there's more and more trying to slide down this way so it will be more of a common occurrence. A lot of them just get lucky."
Neighbor John Ashford feels lucky that the truck flipped over when it did.
"Oh yeah, cause as you see. He comes down through here he can take a house out. I mean it's only 15 miles through here. And as you can see with the cars coming down they don't listen," says Ashford.
Police say the driver is facing a slew of traffic citations.
The driver is Pablo Ruiz from New Jersey .
On Tuesday afternoon he was listed in stable condition at Geisinger Hospital in Plains. | |
