NESQUEHONING, CARBON COUNTY- The Department of Environmental protection is warning people in Nesquehoning to boil their water.
Four water mains broke Monday night. Two were repaired by 5:00 Tuesday evening. Hundreds were without water through most of Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
Most people have running water in the borough Monday, but repairs have caused temporary shut downs.
Dorothy Quigley has been without this running water since Monday night. "You have to deal with it, you have to rise to the occasion and make the best of it," said Quigley.
A pressure reducing valve malfunctioned Monday night at 7:30. It caused the mains to break and left hundreds like Margaret Pirro without water. "I went to fill the tea kettle to have tea and I'm jerking and standing there going there's no water," said Pirro.
The Nesquehoning Water Authority worked night and day to repair the breaks. The DEP says people in this borough should boil their water until further notice. | |
