PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY- Grand opening ceremonies will be held this morning to officially open the new casino at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. A brief ceremony will be held at 9:30 A. M. outside the new 300,000 square foot casino before if officially opens to the public by 10 A. M.
The casino houses more than 2,000 new slot machines in addition to 10 restaurants, two bars and six shops. The project cost more than 200 million dollars. Among the restaurants inside is a Ruth's Chris Steak House.
Tuesday night a preview night was held to test all the workings of the casino. All of the proceeds that night were donated to the United Way.
