Selinsgrove, Snyder County-

In Snyder County, a growing parish is moving into a new home. The congregation of Selinsgrove's St. Pius X Church will dedicate a brand new facility on Saturday.

Parishioners marvel at the sight of their new church, which has been a dream come true many years in the making. Church member Peg Fatchaline said, "It's beautiful. It's a beautiful house of worship...We waited a long time for this."

The awe-inspiring 700-seat sanctuary features beautiful stained glass windows and a marble altar, hand-crafted in the early 1900's. The new building also has plenty of modern-day amenities, and space to accommodate future growth.

"These people have worked and worked to get this beautiful church. And I'm sure that everyone's just going to be so thrilled, they won't know what to do," Mary Zaucha said. Zaucha has been a member at St. Pius X for three years.

She loves the new church, but credits their pastor, Father Ted Keating, for keeping people coming back. "I can't even say enough words about him. He's a wonderful, wonderful person, and he draws everyone to the church," she explained.

Church members both old and new volunteered to do all the jobs necessary to complete a project of this magnitude. They know it will benefit them for years to come.

And while the building will be dedicated at a Mass on Saturday evening, it's the dedication of the parishioners that brought a tear to the eye of Father Keating's dad, Edward. "A hundred and fifty people that volunteered to help move the whole church up here just last Sunday. He just couldn't get over it," Keating added.

Father Ted Keating noted, "They know that this is going to involve their families. We're not only building a church for this generation, but many to come...And that's why they put so much effort into it. It's a beautiful gift to pass this church on to the generations to come."

St. Pius X was established as a mission in 1954.Today, it's grown into a parish with more than 650 member families.
