Downtown Williamsport's Holiday Inn will soon be joined by a Holiday Inn Express.

Owner George Tsunis held a groundbreaking today for the new hotel, which will be attached to the existing one.

The five million dollar Holiday Inn Express will have 92 rooms, and add about 25 new staff members, in addition to temporary construction jobs.

Tsunis noted, "Things like this put food on our workers tables, so I'm very happy that we're able to do that. Not only are we building a great hotel, but we're employing a lot of people."

Tsunis says Williamsport's Holiday Inn had a banner year in 2007, with a 13% increase in business.

Work on the new Holiday Inn Express is already underway and is expected to be completed by Spring of next year.
