SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - People who live or work in Scranton have a new place to chow down. Cosmo's Cheesesteaks has finally opened on Moosic Streeet. Customers say the cheesesteaks are just as good as in Philadelphia.

"Better than Pats or Genos. It's Pats and Geno's without the drive. It's just so tasty. It's awesome," Taggart McGurin of Clarks Summit said.

The kitchen at Cosmo's officially opened Monday but it really hasn't seen a break. Workers have already gone through more than 400 pounds of meat.

"We're overwhelmed. It's turning out way better than I expected," owner Cosmo Salerno said.

The menu is limited to basically cheesesteaks and cheese fries, but customers say that doesn't matter. They say the new place is reasonably priced. The average cost of a cheesesteak is about $7.00.

"I had a cheesesteak and cheese fries. They're really good. I liked it," Kelsey Obsorne or Scranton said.

The new restaurant is located in the old Granito restaurant building. That business was known for its hoagies for more than 50 years. Now, Cosmo Salerno hopes its known for something new, especially when compared with his rivals in Philly.

"I did my homework. I think I'm a little better though. I think I'm a little better. We're from Scranton. We do things better," Salerno said.

"It's gonna bring a lot of business in. A lot of business. A lot of people are gonna be coming here. It's a place where you can go get cheesesteaks locally," Andrew Connors said.

Cosmo's cheesesteaks is now open seven days a week. On Fridays and Saturdays, it will be open until 4:00 AM.
