WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- Some politicians elected to help restore integrity to the Luzerne County Courthouse following the corruption scandal began their work Monday.

Judges-Elect Tina Polachek Gartley and William Amesbury were sworn-in this morning to serve on the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas. They were both elected in November.

Also taking the oath was Judge Thomas Burke, whom voters retained for another 10-year term. Burke was also elected President Judge by his fellow judges. Former President Judge Chester Muroski must retire and is moving to Senior Judge status.

And in Lackawanna County, the court's newest judge was sworn into serve on the bench. Margaret Bisignani Moyle took the oath at the Lackawanna County Courthouse. She won an open seat on the Court of Common Pleas in November.

Also in Scranton, Mayor Chris Doherty will begin a third term in office. He was sworn in at 11:00 at the Mellow Theater on Vine Street.
