PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY- Doctors say headaches are the most common medical complaint.
More than 31-million people in America suffer from migraines.
They can cause a constant struggle for those who have them.
New specialized treatment in Luzerne County is brining in patients from across the country.
It's a simple approach to cutting edge headache research.
Dr. Todd Rozen, Geisinger Headache Center said, "If you present them with something different they'll travel to see you."
The new treatment center opened in April.
Dr. Rozen says people are flying in from across the country to receive special headache treatment.
Some migraine patients told Dr. Rozen the headache center is their last option.
Rozen said, "Having chronic pain is depressing, it's tough to live your life. It's tough to say that I have pain that affects my children, or my husband or spouse."
Migraine patients are treated at this infusion center in Plains Township.
The key is reseting the brain chemicals to weed out the headache's cause.
Pain psychology then helps pinpoint the problem. l
Nurse Linda Farmer, Geisinger Infusion Center said, "The patients do love it, they seem to be at the end of the rope. They seem to have headaches for many years and they are looking for any answer. They seem to come out of it with some kind of an answer."
Dr. Rozen hopes the headache center will expand.
"What's nice about it is when you get that appreciative patient, who they say finally somebody understands me, finally somebody is taking me seriously," said Rozen.
