CARBONDALE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- It took years of planning, but a controversial new rehab clinic has opened its doors in Carbondale.

Women who want to overcome their addictions can now come to the "Pocket Full of Hope" center on Lincoln Avenue and get help. There's a kitchen, meeting rooms, curfews and chores. The women aren't just battling drugs. Some are tackling alcohol and gambling issues.

Not everyone is in favor of the clinic, some fear property values will go down and crime will go up. George Gallick said, “At first, I was against it, because I didn't know what type of person would be coming in there. But now, I realize it’s not going to stop what’s coming in, so we'll try to make the best of it."

Officials from the clinic say the center is a safe place and there should be no problem. In fact, they are looking to open another group home in the area.
