SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - A new nightclub is holding its grand opening New Year's Eve to welcome in 2010 in the Electric City.
Thousands of dollars of top-shelf liquor are lined up at the Scranton Hardware Bar.
The nightclub is the new kid in town taking over the former Tink's Entertainment Complex on Linden Street.
Before preparing the confetti and blowing up balloons, Scranton Hardware Bar manager Jason Melhorn was busy, Thursday, doing the little things to ensure a New Year's Eve grand opening success.
"There will be something going on every minute from 8 o'clock' til 2 a. m," said Melhorn.

He's hopeful the walk-up crowd will grow from the 300 pre-sold tickets to this New Year's Eve bash -- a party that will feature the band "Maybe Someday".
The management that owns Scranton Hardware Bar operates several other Hardware Bars across the state, including in Wilkes-Barre.
Anybody familiar with the bar chain knows that the entertainment is more than just about the band.
Just like the Wilkes-Barre Hardware Bar's March 2008 grand opening, the Scranton location will feature staff performing choreographed dances on the bar and interacting with customers.
"We hope to take the Scranton party to the next level, to the 'N'th degree," said Melhorn.

Also on that bar -- the barber chair -- where customers become the center of attention while downing a shot. It's something that's been quite popular at other Hardware Bars that management owns.
"We actually had an 80-year-old woman in the barber chair before dancing on the bar," said Melhorn. "She was having a great old time."

Melhorn says there's a need for a new vibrant lifestyle in downtown Scranton and the ideas he's lined up will deliver New Year's Eve and year-round.
Scranton Hardware Bar will feature nationally-known entertainers from time to time.
"Vanilla Ice" is booked for a performance in January.
