Newfoundland Fire
Newfoundland Fire - Friday, December 26, 2008 at 8:17PM EST
Newfoundland, Wayne County -
Firefighters say when they arrived at the home there was heavy fire coming from the back of the building and the flames spread throughout the home.
If you were to look at the building from the front through, you might be surprised at all the damage. There are only a few broken windows. But check out the scene around back. Everything was destroyed by the fast moving flames. When our crew got to the scene the rubble was still smoldering behind the home. We're told that five people, including three young children, live in the home that burned. They were home at the time of the fire, but fortunately, they all got out safely. Some of the family pets were not as lucky though.
Chief Allen Shiffler, of the Greene-Dreher Fire Department says, “The family was here, the father was hooking up a video game to the TV when he smelled the smoke. Some pets lost their lives in the fire. I'm not sure on how many."
A state police fire marshall was on scene this afternoon looking for the cause of the blaze. As of right now it is still under investigation. The family who lives in the home is not able to stay there tonight. | |
