Nikkei News: Toyota Will Recall 2010 Prius - Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 5:05PM EST

A Japanese news service reported today that Toyota will recall about a hundred thousand of the popular hybrid in the United States. But Toyota officials say they don't have any information on that.
The problem is a glitch in the software of anti-lock braking systems. It causes a lag when some drivers push on the brake pedal. The Transportation Department is looking into more than a hundred complaints. The Nikkei news service says Toyota will issue the recall to fix the anti-lock brake system of 2010 third-generation Prius vehicles. Those are the ones sold between May and December of last year.
This is just another black eye for the Japanese company. Last month, Toyota recalled more than two million vehicles because of the risk of unintended acceleration. Toyota says the Prius problems are not related to that recall.
