Carlos Carlos is taking the air out of these tires and he won't be putting air back in. Carlos is replacing the air with nitrogen. Marvin K. Brown in Mission Valley just started offering the fifty dollar service, swapping each tire's air with nitrogen.
And why would you want it? Air pressure is important in the life of a tire and impacts gas mileage. Nitrogen will stay in the tire longer than regular air.
But not everyone is convinced that nitrogen is really necessary. Preston Ehrenfeldt says regular maintenance of your tires is more important than adding nitrogen.
Those selling nitrogen says it helps people who procrastinate checking their tires and adds an extra element of safety when people are on the road.
