North Lake here in Ross Township was peaceful, serene and relaxing. Until last year, when this clean flow system compressor was installed right next to Susan Maille's house. It's supposed to circulate water in the lake and prevent algae. But Maille says it just circulating a ruckus.
Maille has lived on North Lake for six years but it has not been this noisy until now. She says the North Lake Improvement Association installed the flow system without her approval. The association is made up of some of the nearly one hundred people living at North Lake.
Maille says her neighbors are facing the same problem and have a strong argument. The North Lake deed says no buildings or structures can be built without a building permit. The only exception is picnic tables. Maille says the Improvement Association went around that approval. She also says there's been no proof that the noisy compressors are even doing their job.
But Maille and her neighbors say they'll monitor the noisy situation. They will bring up their complaints at the next Improvement Association meeting.
Neighbors at North Lake say the compressors were put in after another algae killing method failed. Copper sulfate was once used, but it settled on the bottom and became sludge.
