A system that's cleaning up north lake in Ross Township , Luzerne County , has some residents complaining, and others singing it's praises.

At North Lake in Ross Township , a clean flow system is in place to preserve its peacefulness.

Donna Krababolski of Ross Township says, "This is restoring the lake. It's not going to be overnight because the lake is so bad in some depths we have across the lake here, it is about 15 feet of sludge."

Krababolski has had a house here for decades.

When algae buildup threatened the lake, volunteer money funded the clean flow system.

It circulates water, keeping the water from becoming stagnant.

But some say it's generators are too noisy.

Susan Maille lives next to generators pumping power into the system.

She says, "I can't sleep at night, it goes right through the house. I can't use my gazebo."

Maille wants the north lake improvement association to do something to quite the noise.

But the noise isn't so bad everywhere here.

On the other side of the lake, people have other opinions.

John Koval of Ross Township says, "Yeah I don't mind the noise at all as long as it's cleaning the lake up. It's a good thing."

Krababolski is the improvement association president.

She says more volunteer funding should be able to fund a fix for the generator noise level.

"It's not going to be overnight. But I have seen a difference," says Krababolski.

Copper sulfate has been used to clean algae from the lake in the past.

But people living there say they were told by the state to stop using the chemical.
