Upper Augusta Township, Northumberland County-

An early morning fire, which took the life of a Northumberland County man, is being ruled accidental. According to witnesses, smoke and flames began ripping through a home on the 100 block of Black Mill Road in Upper Augusta Township around 4:30AM, eventually taking the life of 34-year-old Shawn Michaels.

Fire investigators say Shawn Michaels lived at the home with his father, Richard, who had already left for work when the fire broke out early this morning. Unfortunately Shawn didn't make it out of the house.

According to Northumberland County Coroner James, Kelley, he died after inhaling too much smoke. "He was located by fire personnel upon their arrival on the couch in the front living room, which according to family members is where he was known to sleep at night," Kelley explained.

Friends and family say they will remember Shawn as a kind, caring, and genuine person, who enjoyed having fun and hanging out with loved ones. Carol Badman, a family friend, called them a tight-knit group. "He liked to fish and play softball...they're very family oriented."

State Police Fire Investigator Norm Fedder says the fire was accidental in nature, originating near an electric wall heater. Damage to the home was severe. We're told the family does have insurance.
