PLAINS TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY- An employee at the Social Security office in Plains Township found a suspicious package Thursday morning, so officials evacuated the building and called in the bomb squad just before 10:00 A. M.
About 1,250 people had to leave, including dozens of children from a day care inside the building. Those kids were walked to a nearby office building.
The bomb squad learned the package was not a bomb and allowed people back into the building around 11:30 A. M.
Officials have not yet said what was inside the package. They did say that their investigation is ongoing.
