Williamsport, Lycoming County-

Some young children at the West Branch School in Williamsport were taught a valuable lesson Friday.

City police officer Jason Bolt talked with elementary school kids about the importance of buckling their seatbelts. He also reminded them that young children should always ride in the back seat of a car.

Bolt says programs like this help build better bonds between children and law enforcement.

Bolt noted, "That way they know when they see one, that this is a police officer. These are the persons here for us to be safe. These are the persons we should go to when we have issues or danger."

Bolt is Williamsport's school resource officer. He presents dozens of safety programs to children in the district throughout the school year.
