EATON TOWNSHIP, WYOMING COUNTY- It's a train that had not been used in decades. In fact, it was about to be torn apart and sold for scrap. But now it has new life and an unusual place to be displayed.
We traveled to Wyoming County for a look at a piece of local history.
The 1926 Whitcoms storage battery locomotive last used in the 1940s or 50s at the Richmondale
Coal Company. The locomotive is being restored by group of locals who love mines and mine history. They call their group Abandoned Mine Research, Inc. They said this will eventually be set up at the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour or the Archibald Mine Restoration project. They said they'll build their own mine if need be to have it used as it was meant to be in 1926.
You can find out more about Abandoned Mine Research Incorporated and the people behind it and their projects by following this link to .
