OLD FORGE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - A well-known business owner in Lackawanna County was roughed-up and robbed early Friday morning. It happened in Old Forge as the victim was leaving his house for work.

Sam Agostini, 77, told Eyewitness News it was a morning he will never forget. She says he was robbed and attacked right outside his home in the 300-block of Carbon Street just before 4:30 AM.

"I noticed that something was wrong. I turned my head and this guy came from behind the bush," Agostini said.

Agostini, who owns Agostini's Bakery on South Main Street, says the man was wearing a masked and was armed with either a pipe or a large flashlight. He says the bandit swung it at him 25 times.

"He kept swinging that thing and I said 'if he ever hits me with this thing, I'm either gonna be dead, or whatever," Agostini said.

News of the attack spread fast to neighbors.

"Just shocking news because this has been a really quiet neighborhood. I've been here for 15 years and it is shocking," neighbor Don Draspa said.

Agostini says the robber got away with about five-thousand dollars. He thinks his attacker may have been someone he knew... who knew his routine.

"It had to be something like that because nobody knows what time I get outta here except the people here and he would be one of them because he knows my routine," Agostini said.

Old Forge Police say they're working all angles of the case and want to solve it soon.

"We do have a lead that we're following up right now, so, it's a pretty substancial lead, so hopefully within a day or two, we'll have an arrest made," Chief Larry Semenza said.
