SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY - After months of being empty, an old restaurant building in Lackawanna County is seeing new life. The old Bennigan's building in South Abington Township opened Tuesday morning as Charlie's Pub & Eatery.

The kitchen was buzzing with activity when Eyewitness News stopped by. The owners are excited about their new venture.

"I was in corporate accounting for 28 years and I decided it was time for me to take a new direction in my career," co-owner Ed Mozdziock said.

The Mozdziock family has never owned a restaurant before but they wanted to give it a shot. Their menu features everything from sandwiches to seafood to steaks.

"All of our food, from the salad dressings to the desserts, are homemade. Everything is made from scratch. It is not a chain," co-owner Paula Mozdziock said.

Many in the first-ever lunch crowd were happy to give us their reviews.

"I've had crab in many, many areas. There's is very, very good," Cindy Allgood of Clarks Summit said.

Prices range from $7 to $17 for most menu items. That includes lunch and dinner.

"I'm so pleased they opened in Clarks Summit. This is a great spot. The food was great. The service was spot-on," Anne Marie Krantz of Clarks Summit said.

The Mozdziock family hopes to grow their business with time and people like June Burns say they'll help them anyway possible.

"It tastes homemade. It's seasoned very, very well. I give it a real A+," Burns said.

The new Charlie's Pub & Eatery is now open seven days a week. It opens daily at 11:00 AM.
