NEWTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- 23-year-old Jeffrey Durkin of Old Forge was killed in a car accident Sunday morning.

The crash happened just after 6:00 A. M. in Newton Township of Lackawanna County. Police say Durkin, Jerry Nichols and Nathan Daniels were driving on Route 307 when they lost control on a curve.

The car landed in a small creek after crashing into the guard rail and a telephone pole. Durkin was thrown from the car and died. Nichols and Daniels were both injured.
