KENNETT SQUARE, CHESTER COUNTY --Our series of one day getaways continues tonight with a tour of Pennsylvania's largest garden. But this place is much more than just flowers and plants. Our summer tour guide, Jeff Chirico is here with another One Tank Trip.

If gas and airfare prices are keeping you from traveling far this summer, Longwood Gardens gives you a taste of Europe fairly close to home in the Philadelphia suburb of Kennett Square, Chester County.

Geraniums. Orchids. Longwood gardens displays nature's vibrant palate. Jennifer Shearon “The most beautiful gardens. Flowers are gorgeous." Massive gardens stretch nearly the size of 800 football fields with more fountains than any garden in the country.

Wealthy industrialist Pierre Dupont founded this garden in 1906 to save trees from logging. Today, his mission of conservation continues.

Ann Suplee/West Chester "I love it because it changes every time I come." Ann Suplee has been bringing her family since her daughter was just a small girl.

Margie Klucznik West Chester "It's relaxing. You get to see stuff here that you don't see anywhere else." These platter shaped lily pads are native to the Amazon.

Trish Evans/Longwood Gardens "It's like taking a walk around the world because you'll see plants from all over the world." …and architecture from Europe.

Jennifer Shearon/Avondale "We come once a week because there are so many things to do." Fun for the whole family. "Kids love indoor garden, outdoor children's garden and they have fountain shows, kids love getting wet in." Walking through the gardens brings back memories of climbing trees as a child.

This spring Longwood unveiled three new tree houses. This one is reminiscent of a Norwegian church. "These are extraordinary luxury tree houses." …Offering a bird's eye view of Longwood's magnificent and massive grounds. "You can come for the day and come back the next day and still not seen everything." In one of the world's great gardens --so close to our backyard.

The trip to Longwood and back to our Wilkes-Barre studio took a full tank of gas and about two and a half hours each way.
