ROUTE 6 --Tonight we take a one tank trip along what's been called one of the most scenic roads in America. The 200-year-old Route 6 offers beautiful views, culture, and fun. It's stretches 400 miles from Crawford County in the west to Pike County in the east. That's where our Jeff Chirico begins his Route 6 Road Trip through the Poconos.

"It's a thrill of a lifetime..." Do Route 6 and you'll find adventure for all ages. "It's so fun." We begin our tour in Milford ---named one of the coolest small towns in America. Ken Rudin of Lords Valley says "very quaint. I like coming."

You can admire the picturesque Grey Towers --the summer home of former governor and early conservationist Gifford Pinchot. Lori McKean says "The most popular feature is the finger bowl ..an outdoor dining hall filled with water. To pass the food, the family floated bowls across the pool.

Hungry? Route 6 has plenty of restaurants. Some say Mr Spanky's has the best Texas BBQ around. Agreed. "That tastes delicious."

Bellies full we hit the road. Next stop --Hawley in Wayne County. At Costa's Family Fun Park kids get in the driver's seat and make quite a splash. Natalie Rotter Laitman says “this is my 7th time doing waterslide. Keep going and going." On the bumper boats...I'm told I'll stay dry. "These boats aren't the easiest to maneuver. So if you're in the pool with experts like these you're a prime target."

We're not bumping into anything when we get to White Mills. Alberta Herman says “the glass work is out of this world." Tour the fine handiwork of pioneer glassmaker Christian Dorflinger. Hank Loftus, curator of the Dorflinger Museum says "it was sold to the White House. President Lincoln ordered a set of glasses in the 1860s."

Route 6 takes us through Honesdale where you can shop or ditch your car for a scenic train ride. Donna LaBar of the Wayne co. Chamber of Commerce says "we have so many hidden treasures here. Many times local people don't find until they research and investigate."

And discover the fun on Pennsylvania Route 6. Jeff Chirico Eyewitness News.
