SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

Police say a suspect in a home invasion case slashed himself acorss the neck as they closed in to take him into custody.

Patrolman Kevin Froses of Taylor Borough says he and officers from Scanton closed in on a home in West Scranton on Friday afternoon to arrest 24-year-old Jason R. Morgan. Officer Froses said that Morgan was one of two men who broke into a mobile home in the Maple Manor Trailer Park in Taylor on Wednesday and assualted the occupants, Mary Ann Flowers and Leonard Mitchko.

According to the police, Morgan tried to escape through a window but pulled back when he saw police dogs around the house. Officers say he slashed himself in the neck when they approached and had to be taken to the hospital for emergency surgery.

The say they have identified the second home invasion suspect as William "Billy" Sodegno who is beileved to be on the run. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Taylor Police Department at 562-2210.
