ELYSBURG, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY - The warm weather on Saturday meant it's time for an annual summer tradition. Knoebels Amusement Park opened its doors.
Attendance on the first day was very high according to park workers. Many people were looking for family fun in the sun. The park first opened back in 1926, but with the economy slumping and gas prices rising, some people say it makes the trip out to the park harder than it used to be.
"It hurt pretty bad. It was double what it was last year. It made me think twice, yeah. I almost didn't even come," Ray McCarty of Virginia said.
"It's painful but you still have to take time with your family and get out and enjoy life," Jim Foresman of Elimsport said.
Admission to the park is always free. | | |
