COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY

Volunteers at the Tobyhanna Army Depot are continuing a Christmas tradition that dates back some 50 years.

'Operating Santa Claus' is a series of Christmas parties held at the Depot for special needs kids from schools and agencies throughout the area. There are three separate parties this year which will entertain over 700 children along with some area veterans.

The kids are treated to holiday music and entertainment, food, crafts, and a visit from some popular characters like Barney, Big Bird, Ronald McDonald, Donald Duck and, of course, Santa and Mrs Claus. Each of the guests receive gifts as well.

The parties are completely paid for through fund raising efforts done by Depot workers who also volunteer to host the annual event.
