NORTHAMPTON COUNTY- We're learning more about how Daniel Autenrieth treated his wife and children in the weeks leading up to the deadly shootout.
WBRE Eyewitness News got a copy of the Protection From Abuse order filed by the gunman's wife.

In the weeks before his deadly rampage, 31-year-old Daniel Autenrieth’s wife detailed his threats, stalking and erratic behavior in a P. F.A. filed in Northampton County.

One episode of many described in the order read, “On April 19th he showed up at my doorstep... He started screaming in front of the kids… that he would kill me... or that he would take the kids and I would never see them again."

Peg Ruddy is Director of the Women's Resource Center in Scranton. She says cases like this are all too common. "Unfortunately that happens more than we are able to see on a day-to-day basis. But it's actually very common -- a very common tactic for abusers to use children in an effort to maintain power and control over the family," she said.

The judge made the Protection From Abuse order against Daniel Autenrieth permanent and it was supposed to last until May 18th of 2012.

The only contact he was supposed to have with his wife was in regard to exchanging custody of their children.
