It's one of the most successful infomercial workout programs ever. P90X claims to put you in the best shape of your life. But can you believe it? I recently sat down with the man made famous by his exercise phenomenon.
Rarely does hard work become so popular. “We never in a million years would have imagined Sheryl Crow would have talked about P90X and Emmit Smith calling customer service, ‘where's my p90x?’ and Ashton Kutcher Twitters about it all the time."
The fitness fad claims to be changing lives --2 million so far. The infomercial shows radical transformations in just 90 days. Host Tony Horton has become famous for his creation. I sat down with him recently to talk about the secret behind the success of P90X. Horton says "the whole premise behind p90x is muscle confusion and what muscle confusion is constantly combating the body at off angles and different ways."
It includes 12 dvd’s packed with intense workouts including weight training-- cardio --yoga. “Its easy in the sense that its figured out for you. It's a plan the book tells you what to do on what days." But the routines are anything but easy.
Just ask Jeff Walker --afternoon DJ on 98.5 KRZ. "That first week, I felt like a train has hit me. I could barely move." But Horton says it pays off. You can see the benefits in before and after photos but Horton says “what you don't see is the fact that they're healthier and quality of life is improved --feel better everyday."
Walker started P90X looking like this --and now! "I still find it hard to believe I did that in 90 days" We'll reveal his new beach body Tuesday night.
