PA Child Care Center Releases Statement

PA Child Care Center Releases Statement - Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 6:54PM EST

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- We know more charges are expected in the Luzerne County corruption case.
Judges Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan are accused of abusing their power to send juveniles to a private detention center in Pittston Township. In exchange, investigators say the pair received millions of dollars in kickbacks.

Wednesday the Pennsylvania Supreme Court removed both judges from the bench. Friday the remaining judges will vote for a new president judge.

Thursday we heard for the first time from the owner of PA Child Care Center, who insists they did nothing wrong and were unaware of any kickback scheme. They say they don t expect any charges to be filed against them. A statement to Eyewitness News read, Neither the companies nor its principal had any knowledge whatsoever of the actions described in the indictment.

Eyewitness News will continue to follow this story.
