SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- A Pennsylvania Patriot from Luzerne County was honored for his service and sacrifice. First Lieutenant Thomas Hromisin was presented with the Purple Heart at a ceremony at the University of Scranton.

Hromisin was deployed to Kuwait in April of 2007. After entering Iraq one month later, he suffered a severe head injury. Brigadier General Francis J. Wiercnski said, "It just shows the sacrifice and the commitment and the dedication of the people we have in our Armed Forces today."

TJ's father Jerry said, "I'm in awe of his strength, his courage, he's just an amazing young man."

Hromisin was also promoted to captain during the ceremony.
