SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- A worker at a Scranton CVS store believes it was a regular customer who tried to rob the store this morning.

Police say a man tried to buy cigarettes with a pre-paid Visa card. The card was denied and the man was told to use the ATM. That's when he demanded the worker to open the cash drawer.

The thief then took money from the register and fled. Police will now review the surveillance footage to identify the suspect.

And police are trying to find out if that CVS robbery is related to one at a Scranton gas station overnight.

Police say a man pulled a knife on the clerk and threatened to kill her at the Sunoco on the corner of South Main and Smith Streets around midnight. The thief got away with cash from the safe.

He's described as a black man 5Õ3Ó tall and he was wearing a blue jacket. Anyone with information should call Scranton police.
