PALO ALTO, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY- The borough of Palo Alto in Schuylkill County started the day wondering who was in charge.

Monday night the small community has a new mayor, council member, and police officer. The mayor and councilman decided not to serve in the posts to which they were elected. And back in December the borough's only full police officer resigned.

Monday night, the Palo Alto council appointed Thomas Beveridge as the new mayor, and James Somers to council.
Todd Heckman was hired as a part-time police officer.

The borough is looking to hire a full officer in the future and fill the second council seat.
