SCRANTON - Some come for the traditional entertainment. Others come for the party.
No matter what the reason, everyone in Scranton had something in common on parade day.
"Saint Patty's Day and parade we're all Irish here - right," yelled Mike Ball of East Benton.
More than 100,000 people crammed Scranton's streets Saturday.
There were families with kids outside and party goers with beer in the bars.
Some bar owners say parade business gets them through the slow times. "It's our busiest day of the year - and also what it does is good PR for us for the rest of the year," said Colm McWilliams the owner of Molly Branigan's.
Michael Renfer of Suskin said, "It's just the atmosphere and all the Irish heritage around and everybody just gets into it and shows their pride and their cultural spirit. I just really get into it."
The parade lasted about four hours but the festivities lasted well into the night. | |
