A double murder suspect ducks a possible death sentence and gets life in prison.

38-year old Paul Weakley was sentenced this morning in federal court in Scranton .

It's part of a plea deal in the case against murder suspect Hugo Selenski.

Hearing Paul Weakley apologize in federal court wasn't easy for Tammy Fasset's family.

Her sister, Lisa Sands says she took the apology, “With a grain of salt. I can't forgive right now and i will never forget."

Weakley was sentenced to life in prison Friday morning.

He pled guilty to playing a part in murdering Fasset, seen here in old pictures, and her boyfriend Michael Kerkowski.

Kerkowski's mother was also in the courtroom.

Gerry Kerkowski says, "I'm not glad of what he did, but i am glad that he came to our side. So that now that we have the truth"

The truth, according to Weakley's guilty plea, was that he wasn't acting alone.

Weakley says he and Hugo Selenski of Luzerne County teamed up to traffic drugs in and out of a federal penitentiary.

He also admitted to arson and several robberies.

Weakley will now testify against Selenski.

Luzerne County District Attorney. Jackie Musto Carroll says, "We've seen the evolution of Paul Weakley from the point of when he was charged, to the point now where he has given a full confession, and he's going to testify in front of the jury of what actually occurred."

Fassett's and Kerkowski's family hopes Weakley's testimony will convict Selenski.

"Half of it's over with. We have Mr. Selenski yet to go," says Sands.

Kerkowski says, "We're going to get the big guy, Hugo. He's going to be everything. I want him under."

Right now Hugo Selenski is locked up waiting for his trial, which is expected to start later this year.
