Williamsport, Lycoming County-

A local college in central Pennsylvania celebrated its 20th birthday Wednesday.

The legislation that created the Pennsylvania College of Technology was signed into law by Governor Robert Casey on July 1st, 1989.

Before its affiliation with Penn State, Penn College was known as the Williamsport Area Community College, and prior to that the Williamsport Technical Institute.

Penn College has more than doubled its enrollment since its creation. Over 22,000 students hold degrees from the institution.
