WILKES-BARRE TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY- One day after the streaking scandal became public we learned team Captain Nathan Smith will receive a one game suspension. That means he will not play in Thursday's playoff game. At practice Tuesday morning Smith said he wanted to apologize once again and set the record straight.

Team practice for the Penguins went on as normal Tuesday morning but the mood was anything but. I want to apologize to the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Penguins fans, the organization, my teammates," said Smith.

Smith apologized for being cited by Scranton police early Sunday morning. He was caught streaking down a Scranton street after what he calls a bet gone wrong. ”I made a bad decision and I'm gonna pay the consequences for it," said Smith.

While Smith called the situation embarrassing coach Todd Richards had even stronger words. “It’s a major distraction. A major disappointment. Obviously it will affect our team," he said.

Winger Ryan Stone was with Smith at the time. He was also cited for public drunkenness and that was his second citation. Stone was given a one game suspension at back in October, and now the team is looking at other options. “The one game suspension we gave him earlier wasn't what was needed to help him, so as an organization, we talked and we're gonna seek other avenues to help him out," added Richards.

After speaking to the media the team hopes to put this incident behind them and get back to normal. “Part of our jobs is to be good role models in the community and what I did is something that was out of character for myself and something I will always remember and never do again," added Smith.
