HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY - The high-profile criminal case against Mount Airy Casino owner Louis DeNaples has taken a suprising turn.

In a two-page news release at 9:30 AM, the Dauphin County District Attorney announced that criminal charges against DeNaples will be dropped. In exchange, Denaples will be removed as owner of the Mount Airy Casino. The operations of the casino will be turned over to DeNaples' daughter Lisa.

"Our primary goal in this investigation was to remove Mr. DeNaples from the gaming industry," District Attorney Ed Marsico said in his release. "This agreement gaurantees that. It is the best interest of the taxpayers of Dauphin County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania."

In a related matter, criminal charges against Father Joseph Sica have also been withdrawn.

The Dauphin County District Attorney, who made this morning's announcement, is also calling for changes to state law regarding background checks of casino owners.
