Williamsport, Lycoming County-

A Williamsport man who fatally beat his girlfriend's one-and-a-half year old son learned his fate Thursday.

21-year-old Fabian Peterkin will spend up to 52 years in state prison. He's responsible for the beating death of Marquise Hanible in April of 2008.

Hanible's family attended the sentencing. They say this is one more step toward helping them heal.

Priscilla Ramos, the little boy’s aunt, said, "We are very happy with the sentencing that went on today. He got what he deserved."

"We're still going through a lot right now. We're still trying to be strong about everything. But we've been hanging in there and we've been all together staying strong," Ramos added.

Investigators say Marquise died after Peterkin punched him hard in the chest at least two times. They add Peterkin has a history of violent behavior.
