More than one thousand people are calling for more safety on a road in Luzerne County .
The stance on safety comes after two deadly accidents on route 115 this month.
Lisa Catalanello of Bear Creek Township , the creator of the petition, says the stakes are high.
"It's crucial that something is done now because it's only a matter of time until another life is lost," said Catalnello.
On January 7th and January 12 th two women died in two separate accidents on the road.
Catalenello knew both women.
"Since the death of our neighbors and community members I felt something needed to be done. Our voices needed to be heard."
The petition was created on the 13th and has more than one thousand signatures.
It asks state troopers to patrol route 115 more and asks PENNdot to install more signs.
State troopers say they're willing to help.
“Their efforts are something that should be commended. We're looking to do whatever we can do jointly with PENNdot, the community, anyone that has a stake in saving lives and keeping traffic slowed down," said Pennsylvania Trooper Tom Kelly.
Jerry Rusinko of Bear Creek Township signed the petition in hopes to help.
"I think enforcement, enforcement. If people get to the idea that they are going to get a ticket on 115, it may slow them down," said Rusinko.
Catalanello's efforts won't stay online for long.
In the near future, she plans to hand deliver this petition to state lawmaker's local offices with many who have signed it. | | |
