Pine Grove Fire

PINE GROVE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY- F amilies pick up what's left of a Tulpehoken Street fire in Pine Grove.
It's what ten families were doing Thursday after fire nearly wiped out their homes. Some are just happy to be alive.
Kim Devine of Pine Grove said, "I got my baby out. that's all that matters. I mean everybody is safe. Material stuff can be bought."
The flames started at about six Wednesday night. By morning, four apartments and a jewelry store were boarded up from the damage.
Tricia Devine and others who lived in the apartments waited while crews investigated for the fires cause.
Devine said, "It's kind of hard because we don't know what we lost and all. Just thankful everyone got out ok and nothing got completely ruined."
Now the community is starting to rally around these victims.
The Pine Grove business association is donating and one business involved is the mustang inn right down the street."
Mustang Inn owner Dave Padova says the business association can help when red cross aid runs out.
For Padova, this fire really hits home.
Padova said, "As i'm having them fill out the paperwork and I'm talking with them it's just devastating what these folks lost."
Even with the help some like Yvonne Blain know it might be a long road to rebuilding their lives.
Blain's apartment was damaged in the fire.
She said, "I'm glad people are trying to help but you still feel helpless.
The Pine Grove business association is collecting clothes for it's disaster fund at the lions den in pine grove.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation as of 6pm Thursday night. | | |
