A Pine Grove Borough councilman's life ended tragically Wednesday.
78-year old Edward Ness died in a car accident on route 501 in Schuylkill County .
He was a pillar of the Pine Grove community.
His family is reflecting on his life, and its tragic end.
Ness ’s sister in law, Betty Doran puts the loss into words.
"What can i say, i miss him. I already do," says Doran.
Ness served on the Pine Grove borough council since 2000.
But a car accident ended his life here on route 501 Wednesday afternoon.
Ness 's family says he was dropping off two hikers at the Appalachian Trail in Pine Grove Township .
"It was raining and it was stormy the other day and I guess he felt sorry for him, offered them a ride."
One final act of kindness.
Pine Grove borough council president Tim Peters remembers Ness says that was ness's nature.
"He was a very caring, giving person. And it's going to be a big loss to the community," says Peters.
He also said Ness offered up his own money for community projects several times.
Peters says, "It showed that he was willing to give back."
Back at Ness's old home, Doran shares a smile while showing an old picture of Ness .
She jokingly says ness introduced the motorcycle to Pine Grove years ago.
It's one of the many memories ness's friends, family, and fellow council members will remember.
Ness is survived by a brother and his grandson.
The driver of the car he collided with came away with minor injuries. | | |
