South Williamsport, Lycoming County-
We wrap up our behind-the-scenes coverage of this year’s Little League World Series with a tour of the Little League Museum.
With the tournament taking a day off and gloomy skies bringing plenty of rain, Friday was a perfect day to visit the museum.
We found plenty of fans and players learning all about the history of the game they love.
Kevin Sborz, of Saint Clair, PA, said, “It’s great. It’s a lot of history in this building here, crammed into this building. It’s very educational, a lot of stuff. I never expected all the stuff that’s in here.”
Ryan Wong, of Vancouver, B. C., noted, “I think this museum is great. It has a lot of old artifacts on Little League and baseball.”
Visiting the Little League museum is a growing tradition for the teams lucky enough to play here. And everyone has a favorite part.
Anthony Cosati, of Vancouver, B. C., explained, “To see all the memorabilia that they have with all the older jerseys, balls, gloves, and bats, it’s all really cool.”
For many, the interactive pitching, hitting, and base running exhibits are the big attraction.
After touring the museum, the kids say they realize how much things have changed over the years. Wong said, “I think the equipment’s gotten better. Safety is more of an issue.”
And for all the players who stroll through here, it’s another chance to realize the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity they’ve experienced.
Cosati added, “Just to be here and to make friends with all the teams, play around with them, play against other international teams and American teams has been great. Great ride!”
