SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Police say 28-year-old Alton Swingle Jr. is expected to enter a guilty plea to charges stemming from the theft of grave markers from a cemetery in Throop. Swingle waived his right to a Preliminary Hearing on Wednesday.
Accoring to police reports, Swingle was the man who took nearly 50 brass Veteran's grave markers from the Holy Family Cemetery in Throopon June 5th. Police say he took them to the home of John Frisbie in Jermyn and asked Frisbie to melt them down so they could be sold for scrap. Police say Frisbis tried to melt them but couldn't Frisbis still faces a Preliminary Hearing on charges related to the marker thefts.
Police say the markers were valued at over eleven hundred dollars.
